Urgent!: Pray for Kenya

Because of massive irregularities in Kenya’s presidential elections on December 27 violence has broken out throughout the country. International election monitors have reported severe irregularities in an election that returned incumbent president, Mwai Kibaki, to office. One of our bishops in Kenya emailed the following report and prayer request to the IDA this morning:

“Just pray that the situation may be arrested because Genocide is now happening. About 200 people from one community who had sought refuge in a church were burnt to death. We have about one hundred thousand displaced people camping in churches and police stations with no food, water, medicine and shelter. In the last few days we have been in meetings trying to find ways to get food supplies to these people. We need help. Will share more next week. Pray for peace for our beloved country. So far over 1,000 peole have been brutally killed.” (Name withheld for now)

We will post more news to the IDA web site as it comes in.

Also pray for Pakistan and for Bishop Yuhanna.

Let us join in prayer that God would protect our clergy and parishioners in Kenya, that He would use them to promote peace and that the Gospel of Jesus Christ would not be hindered by this violence.
