Report from the March for Life 2008
Monday
Today yielded very interesting events and experiences. To begin the day, the CEC youth joined the Stand True ministry and other members of the CEC and other denominations around the country, to pray outside of an abortion clinic. Brian Kemper, the leader and founder of Stand True, then gathered everyone who was there together and told us rejoicing, that the abortion clinics in Washington D.C. were closed and that no babies would die in D.C. that day! Patriarch’s Message from the March for Life
We are light because He is the Light
I just returned from a gathering with the young adults of the American Church in Washington, D.C. On Tuesday, January 22nd we gathered at the Supreme Court to pray for the souls of the hundreds of thousands of babies who have died in the greatest holocaust known to mankind and then we joined hundreds of thousands of others – mostly young adults and walked in prayer to end abortion in our generation.

CEC Chaplain Celebrated Mass in the oldest chapel on the Island of Oahu,HI
Chaplain (LTC) John C. Molina held a Christmas Mass in the oldest chapel in the Island of Oahu,HI (and of all the military intallations on the Islands). The chapel was donated by the Queen to the Army and is a historic landmark.
Chaplian Molina said, “It needs a lot of work and hopefully the Army will get to it this year. I also live in a historic house which was built in 1917 and is only a couple of blocks away from the chapel. The type of house I live in appears in the movie ‘From Here to Eternity’ with Burt Lancaster. Much of the film took place at Schofield Barracks and Wheeler Army Airfield where I reside…lots of history around.”
Father Molina took the service over a few months ago and found a small liturgical service composed of mostly Lutherans and Episcopelians. “The Army is very thin when it comes to chaplains with a liturgical background other than Roman Catholic. In the Army, I am not responsible for a chapel and pastoring this congregations is ‘extra’ work which I gladly do.”

March for Life begins with CEC Youth Rally
On Sunday January 20th, youth from around the CEC met together for a rally of praise and worship. The rally was started with the introduction of the priests and bishops who gathered in Washington D.C. to be with us and to participate in the March for Life on Tuesday the 22. Among the bishops and priests here in Washington are Archbishop Chuck Jones, Bishop Mike Davison, Bishop David Simpson, and the newly elected Patriarch of the CEC, Bishop Craig Bates. Although these men and the other clergy here have many things on their plate they still took the time to be with the youth tonight.

Oops – Daily Office Bookmarks Recalled!
Ok – maybe “recalled” is a little strong, after all it is not an Oldsmoblie with bad brakes.
However Dcn Prager has informed us that the readings on the bookmarks did not account for Lent beginning on Feb 6th. They are now corrected and may be downloaded here (the original post). In the 2 days the bookmarks were posted before the mistake was corrected they were download 84 times. We apologize for any inconvenience.

Daily Office Lectionary Bookmarks for February 2008
My name is Deacon Kevin Prager, and I serve at Christ Jesus Victor CEC in Brunswick, Maine under the leadership of Father Peter Donatelli. A few years ago, Bishop Bates asked me to be the chairperson for a diocesan working group on prayer. It has been a great honor to serve in this capacity. Since then, we have undertaken several projects for the diocese-the most widely received being monthly bookmarks that have the daily office Scripture readings printed on them.
These bookmarks were designed by seminarian Craig Honeycutt, who has put many hours of sweat and love into their design and monthly publishing.
Please take a moment to look at the bookmark for February. It is formatted to be printed as a double sided 8.5×11 inch document and then cut to size. There are 2 versions of the bookmark: a regular sized and a large-print edition.
Stay tuned for the debut of our prayer resource blog in the next month or so, where we will be expanding the number of prayer resources available to the faithful of the ICCEC.
